MyTopTip: Ensure all the information you provide is true, complete and accurate to avoid any delays or problems in your application.
Stage 1 – You need to register at NMC https://ireg.nmc-uk.org/ and complete an online self-assessment. Supporting documents are not submitted at this stage. An application fee of £140 is charged (non refundable) payable to the NMC directly.
Stage 2 –You will be asked by the NMC to sit the CBT (test of theoretical practice-based knowledge) which consists of 120 multiple choice questions. You are only permitted to retake the test twice.
Stage 3 – You will be required to submit a number of documents online after you have passed the CBT which include documents such as:
- Valid passport
- Birth certificate
- Formal qualification certificates including OET/IELT certificates
Once the documents have been received the application will be assessed by the international registration team and this may take up to 60 days.
Stage 4 – You now need to sit a clinical exam (OSCE) in the UK which costs around £992 payable to the NMC directly. Results will take around 5 working days and you can sit the exam up to 3 times.
Stage 5 – This is the last stage before you recicve your PIN to practice in the UK. You need to complete a final registration online, pay an admission fee for nursing which currently costs £153 payable to the NMC directly.
